in the year 1955 the Government of India established Ranthambore as the Sawai Madhopur Game Sanctuary. In 1973 it was conferred as one of the Project Tiger reserves and finally in 1980 Ranthambore was declared as a National Park. Its nearby sanctuary is Kaila Devi Sanctuary. Ranthambore wildlife sanctuary is famous for its tigers and tigers can be easily spotted even during the day time. November till April is the best time to visit Ranthambore National Park. There are over 40 species of mammals, over 320 bird species both resident and migratory and over 35 species of reptiles. During the dry and harsh summer not lots of species of amphibians are visible in the park. Besides seeing tigers in the national park there are other wild animals such as Leopards, Sambar deer, Wild Boars, Skittering Frogs, Bengal Monitor Lizards, Indian Palm Civets, Jackals, Sloth Bears, Hyenas, Indian Hares, Marsh Crocodiles, Saw-scaled Vipers, Indian Bull Frogs.
